July 14, the “Smart Use of Ocean and Smart Future of Qingdao” 2021 Global Marine Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest (Shanghai Sub-Contest) was successfully held in Shanghai. During the sub-contest, the first offline sub-contest, 12 outstanding projects from the marine industry, including the Full-Automatic Microalgae Photobioreactor, the Optical Fiber Neural Perception Security System, and the Shanghai Auto Subsea Intelligent Equipment, competed for the finals, empowering the development of the marine industry of Qingdao.



Staff from the Association of Science & Technology, the Marine Development Bureau, the Talent Center, and the Talent Group of Qingdao West Coast New Area have contacted the project leaders and learned about the projects and their talent structures. They focused on presenting the marine industry and talent policies of the New Area, striving to reach cooperation with outstanding entries.


By now, the Contest has solicited more than 80 projects. A global online sub-contest has been held in Ningbo previously. Later, a sub-contest will be held in Shenzhen as well, and 12 projects will finally be qualified for the finals held in Qingdao. Focusing on marine science and technology cooperation and fulfilling the “Creative Qingdao” concept, the Contest will build a platform for accelerating scientific and technological innovation and promote the formation of the four-chain (industry chain, capital chain, talent chain, and technology chain) development ecosystem required for innovation and entrepreneurship. These efforts will promote outstanding projects to combine with the existing industries of Qingdao, boost the development of high-level talents, and promote industrial transformation and upgrading.
