In the afternoon of June 28, the International Marine Cooperation and Ocean Governance Forum was held in Qingdao West Coast New Area. The International Ocean City Think Tank Network was announced and adopted the Qingdao Initiative for International Marine Cooperation and Ocean Governance.
More than ten think tank experts and scholars from China, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and other countries discussed "Global Climate Change and East Asian Ocean Governance Cooperation", and put forward suggestions on how to effectively establish an effective inter-regional ocean governance mechanism framework and create international public goods conducive to the sustainable development of East Asian oceans.
The establishment of the International Ocean City Think Tank Network has strengthened the links between think tanks and marine institutions in East Asia, connected local and multinational marine enterprises, and promoted international policy research cooperation on promoting the development of marine economy and building maritime capacity.
Wu Shicun, Chairman of the Council of China-Southeast Asia South China Sea Research Center and Director of Hainan Huayang Marine Cooperation and Ocean Governance Research, delivered a keynote speech on "Challenges and Opportunities of Marine Cooperation and Ocean Governance in the South China Sea". Experts attending the meeting made speeches and discussions on "Challenges and Opportunities of Cooperation in Maritime Capacity Building in East Asia" and "Building a Sustainable Marine Economy with Climate Adaptability", and put forward cooperation suggestions.
