Forum on International Cooperation of Young Ocean Scientists Held in Qingdao West Coast New Area

In the afternoon of June 27, the Forum on International Cooperation of Young Ocean Scientists was held, with the theme of "Towards a Sustainable Ocean in the Context of Climate Change". Nine young scientists from China, UK, South Korea, Thailand and other countries gave special reports on the United Nations "Ocean Decade" scientific programs and projects.


Erik Solheim, former UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNEP, delivered a keynote speech.

Seven "Ocean Decade" scientific programs or projects dispatched representatives to participate in the forum. William Austin, Professor of School of Geography and Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews, UK, Wang Yuntao, Researcher of Second Institute of Oceanography, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Deputy Director of State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics, Park Young Kyu, Senior Researcher of Ocean Circulation and Climate Research Department, Korea Institute of Marine Science and Technology, and Cong Bolin, Associate Researcher of First Institute of Oceanography, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Director of GEF/FAO Estuary Project Office, shared their "Ocean Decade" scientific programs or projects with the audience at the forum.


Initiate the establishment of a liaison mechanism for young scientists in the Ocean Decade


At the forum, the Modern Marine Institute of Urban Development convened young scientists to jointly launch the liaison mechanism for young scientists in the "Ocean Decade".


Southern All Financial Media Group, 21st Century Economic Report and the Modern Marine Institute of Urban Development officially launched the collection and selection activity of "Cases of Transformation of Marine Scientific and Technological Achievements".
