To further optimize the talent innovation and entrepreneurship environment and construct a highland of modern marine talents, in recent years, the Headquarters of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform (Qingdao West Coast New Area) has been focusing on the high-quality development of the modern marine industry, implementing multiple measures to achieve “Double Recruitment and Double Invitation” and combining “the introduction of foreign technologies and capital” with “the export of Chinese products”.
On February 17, China Enterprise News Marine Industry Foreign Cooperation Promotion Center of Qingdao West Coast New Area held a symposium with the Europe China Returnee Alliance at the headquarters of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform (Qingdao West Coast New Area), and the two sides achieved strategic cooperation. The representatives, namely Zhu Dan, Vice Chairman of Europe China Returnee Alliance, Consultant of International Marine Chamber of Commerce Association Alliance, and Representative of Member Units of the Alliance, and Chen Yingdong, General Manager of China Enterprise News Marine Industry Foreign Cooperation Promotion Center of Qingdao West Coast New Area, signed a memorandum of cooperation.

As reported, the Europe China Returnee Alliance, as one of the initial member units of the International Marine Chamber of Commerce Association Alliance, is the first unit that has visited the headquarters of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform (Qingdao West Coast New Area. With further implementation of the tasks of the International Marine Chamber of Commerce Association Alliance, more member units will engage in the cooperation and exchange with the headquarters so as to realize a win-win situation.
The International Marine Chamber of Commerce Association Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the Alliance) was launched by China Enterprise News Marine Industry Foreign Cooperation Promotion Center of Qingdao West Coast New Area under the China Enterprise News Group and jointly established by China Enterprise News Live, China Enterprise News Group and Shanghai Office of Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation, Chinese Foreign Ministry. It intends to promote the sustainable development of the marine economy and construct an influential international cooperation platform in the global marine field
The vision of the Alliance is to achieve economically-oriented and industrially-linked win-win cooperation, and its mission is to establish a lasting international marine industry exchange and cooperation platform. The Alliance aims at building a bridge by integrating the resources of domestic and foreign marine associations to converge the cross-culture, cross-field, and cross-region international marine industries. It also intends to establish cooperation and exchange channel for international marine-related industries and enterprises and develop the characteristic marine industrial clusters, thus making it an integrated marine resource allocation platform, a marine information release platform, and a government-enterprise communication platform, so as to provide an important platform and strong momentum for the local government to “attract investment and talents” and achieve the strategic target of all members, namely “introducing foreign technologies and capital”, and “exporting Chinese products”.

Chen Yingdong expressed that this cooperation would further promote the exchange and introduction of professionals by the headquarters of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform (Qingdao West Coast New Area) in the marine field; later, the two sides would also cooperate in the aspects of industrial design and creativity.

Wu Zhicheng affirmed the cooperation and expressed that the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform should give full play to its bridging and linking role to attract more excellent organizations, gather global capital, technical, talent, and industrial resources, and improve the platform ecosystem. This cooperation would gather more high-quality overseas resources to build the headquarters of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform (Qingdao West Coast New Area) into an international cooperation platform with great influence in the marine field all over the world, thus promoting the sustainable development of the marine economy in Qingdao.

As mentioned by Zhao Yingmin, the marine economy will be of strategic importance for coastal city clusters in the “14th Five-year Plan” Period. Currently, the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform is trying to promote the corresponding departments, as well as Qingdao and Shandong Province, to jointly construct the Qingdao Marine International Cooperation Center; it holds high-level Qingdao Forum and East Asia Marine Expo annually to build an internationally renowned brand of marine expo and attract international marine organizations and their offices to settle down or set up branches in Qingdao West Coast New Area. He believed that this cooperation would help the headquarters of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform (Qingdao West Coast New Area) to deepen international cooperation in the marine field and accelerate the high-quality development of the international marine industry.

Zhu Dan proposed that “At present, the Europe China Returnee Alliance has gathered a large number of industrial and technical talents, and China has shown huge market and industrial upgrading needs.” This cooperation between Europe China Returnee Alliance and China Enterprise News Marine Industry Foreign Cooperation Promotion Center of Qingdao West Coast New Area will further break through the barrier that prevents information exchange with other countries, gather the strengths of the two sides, and form a synergy effect, so as to realize mutual benefits.
In the opinion of Zhu Dan, although Qingdao is a well-known coastal city in China, there are still more international friends in need of visiting and understanding Qingdao. She expressed that “Qingdao West Coast New Area is a great place for entrepreneurship and innovation, and it has gathered numerous specialized, innovative, and future champion enterprises. We have also accumulated a large group of European industry experts. Therefore, we expect to cooperate with these outstanding enterprises to jointly develop products and solutions in the future to better serve China and the world. We also expect to engage in further cooperation with the International Marine Chamber of Commerce Association Alliance to build a better future.”
