Pursue a cooperative and win-win development through a field visit to RMS Group

Huang Fuyu noted that, established in 1993, through 28 years’ growth, RMS Group has become a world-leading marine service provider and the only full-chain and one-stop service provider in the global marine service area, mainly providing professional, reliable, fast and efficient “one-stop” solutions on material supply, food supply, spare parts and equipment supply, fire safety inspection, repair service, maritime work service, cruise supply, shipping agency, and logistics. The Group has set up 12 domestic subsidiaries and 3 overseas subsidiaries based in Korea, Singapore and the Netherlands, with its business covering Asia and Europe, further improving the service capacity and competitive edge of the Group. He added that among 100,000 big ships in service on the sea globally, 50,000 berthed at China’s ports and more than 30,000 were served by RMS Group. In the future, RMS Group will continue to push forward globalization, invest more in the construction of the digital information platform and R&D efforts, and work together with the local government to lay down industrial standards for the high-quality development of the marine service area.

The investigation team gained deeper insights into the development layout and strength of RMS Group after face-to-face communication and exchange. Vice Chairman Wu Zhicheng pointed out that in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative and carbon neutrality, both sides should pursue cooperation and development at a high starting point. Qingdao West Coast New Area, as a national-level new area, is bound to make new attempts and explorations in the field of marine services, expand diversified businesses, and further satisfy the globalized shipping service demands.

Better understand the setting up process of the Alliance by investigating China Enterprise News Live

As an important part of the visit to Shanghai, the investigation team visited China Enterprise News Live. Both sides conducted a symposium to get a better understanding of the organizational structure and setting up process of the Alliance of International Marine Associations, and the participation of domestic and overseas marine associations.

At the symposium, Wulan Qiqige, Director of China Enterprise News Live and Director of China Enterprise Marine Industry International Cooperation Promotion Center of Qingdao West Coast New Area, pointed out that it was a forward-looking and innovative initiative presented by the leaders of the headquarters of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform (Qingdao West Coast New Area) to establish the Alliance of International Marine Associations. Under the principle of “planning at a high starting point, positioning as per a high standard, and pushing forward with a high quality”, the preparations for the setting up of the Alliance are underway in an orderly manner and have achieved phased progress. For example, the International Expert Seminar on the Preparations for the Alliance of International Marine Associations has been held; an extensive investigation has been conducted on international marine associations; 25 marine associations have confirmed to join the Alliance; and the marine industry economy channel of China Enterprise News Live, an online release platform of the Alliance of International Marine Associations, has been opened. Efforts have been made to actively coordinate various superior resources at home and abroad, boost the high-quality development of the marine economy, and build Qingdao as a demonstration area in leading the international maritime cooperation.

Vice Chairman Wu Zhicheng highly affirmed and praised the considerable headway made in the preparations for the setting up of the Alliance. He stressed that it was necessary to give full play to the role of bridge and bond of the Alliance of International Marine Associations, and involve more associations from different countries into the Alliance by enhancing the interconnectivity between countries through the NGOs under the Belt and Road Initiative. Moreover, it is important to stay true to the original aspiration, adhere to the economy-led and industry-bonded consensus based on cooperation and win-win results, deepen the pragmatic cooperation at all levels and in all fields, further expand the scope for cooperation, pool the global superior resources such as fund, science, talents and industry in Qingdao, and constantly improve the ecology of the platform. And through continuous exploration and practice, efforts should be made to gradually establish an innovative pattern featuring international running, normalized operation and market-oriented development for the Alliance, push forward the sustainable development of the marine economy, and build the headquarters of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform (Qingdao West Coast New Area) into an international cooperation high ground with significant influence in the global maritime field.

Meanwhile, Hong Yongqing, Director of Shanghai Office of the Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China also met with the investigation team.
