On March 30, the "Meet France, Understand Qingdao" - UN Ocean Decade Dialogue Meeting was held at the Ocean Decade Cooperation Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Cooperation Center") with concerted efforts.

Olivier Poivre d'Arvor, Special Envoy of the President of France for the UN Ocean Conference, led a delegation to visit and learn about the Cooperation Center. They engaged in discussions on topics such as deep engagement in the UN Ocean Conference and expanding the Sino-French coastal city partnership. The delegation then visited the Tangdao Bay National Wetland Park to understand typical cases of marine ecological restoration, including the blue bay restoration project in the new area.

During the dialogue meeting, Zhang Jiandong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Ocean Bureau, presented an overview of Shandong's maritime landscape. The meeting also delved into the collaborative efforts between Qingdao, Qingdao West Coast New Area, DCC-OCC, Ocean University of China, and their French counterparts. Both Chinese and French representatives engaged in profound discussions on the practical cooperation in the marine sector.

Envoy d'Arvor highlighted China's significant contributions to ocean conservation as a maritime nation. He expressed his desire for both China and France to vigorously pursue bilateral cooperation in the marine domain and extended an invitation to the Cooperation Center to attend the UN Ocean Conference in 2025.
